An amazing family in Wandsworth wanted to redesign the ground floor of their house and redecorate it completely. We had a lot of fun and laughter while working with them on a new space together with their interior designer.
Wandsworth is a popular family focused neighborhood in London. It is safe and still relatively affordable, especially taking the location and transport options into consideration. Quite simply, it is a great area to live in.
This refurbishment was unusual for us because we did something here that we almost never do.

We were approached by a designer just two weeks before their planned start date, and luckily we had a little gap in our schedule as we were between projects. It was a challenge, but not one that we could not fulfill.
We almost never work on a home in which the entire family is still living. Our work was restricted to certain areas of the house, while we had to keep dust under control and make safety the highest priority due to young children staying in the house.
It was a redecoration project with a complete ground floor redesign, introducing frameless glass balustrading and multiple bespoke joinery elements to create a stylish space and reintroduce original features such as cornicing to the space.

We had to precisely plan every single trade involved, as well multiple workshops and deliveries, to ensure that everything was ready in 6 weeks time.
The designers took care of an antique furniture delivery to an upholstery workshop, and ordered decorative lighting and soft furnishings. We focused our attention on preparing the main living room area layout for frameless glass balustrading as a method of effectively bringing the garden inside the house. In addition to bespoke telescopic sliding doors as a sound barrier to divide the basement lightwell, we were simultaneously finalising joinery drawings for the furniture in order to start production asap.
While the electricians were locating new lines for improved lighting throughout the ground floor living room, gallery room and corridors, the plumbers were moving radiators around to make space for new joinery units.
Installation of parquet flooring and carpets, as well as redecorating the house, was a last minute decision while we were finishing this fast paced project.
We take pride in meeting budgets and deadlines. Even in challenging projects like this one.
A highly successful outcome was possible thanks to thoughtful design, planning, daily site project management, and a fruitful collaboration with the knowledgeable interior designer.
The family was incredibly fun to be around as we worked, and they were open and understanding.

A word from our Clients:
From the initial meeting GBG provided a detailed review of the design from a structural perspective and together we were able to assess any constraints prior to the build, allowing the program to run smoothly.
GBG Building Services Ltd were our preferred contractor following a careful selection process for a residential refurbishment in SW London. Although not a large project there were a few complex areas of focus to the design and we required a skilled workforce to evaluate and execute the project to a high standard.
Mariusz Gawecki is a sincere, polite and extremely professional Project Manager. His background in Civil Engineering is another distinct string to his bow and is a huge asset to the design process. With this experience at the helm we were able to create a uniquely adept forum with our clients as the build evolved. In the end, Mariusz and Eric’s team were so incredibly efficient we completed the program ahead of schedule with a highly successful outcome.
