Individuals choose to renovate their properties for a variety of reasons, but the most common motivation is often to infuse a sense of personality and style into a new home. However, in this particular instance, the situation was somewhat different.
We undertook the renovation of a third-floor duplex apartment on Chesham Place in Belgravia for a client who had encountered a serious water leak resulting from blocked gullies. This apartment’s location, in close proximity to Margaret Thatcher’s former residence, adds a unique historical element to the narrative.
The water leak was not the sole concern we faced; access to the apartment for the renovation work through the main building staircase was restricted. This limitation was set in place to preserve the pristine condition of the interiors and to avoid causing any disruption to the lives of the esteemed neighbors.
In response, we opted to utilize side scaffolding equipped with a proper lift, allowing us to complete the project to a high standard and within the designated timeline. Our comprehensive renovation included replacing the kitchen, rebuilding two bathrooms, and adding two dressing rooms.
The walls were meticulously prepared following the artist’s precise recommendations, as chosen by the interior designer for the hand-painted interiors. We installed approximately 200 square metres of exquisite marble tiles and upgraded the old wooden floors to elegant French-style parquet. Throughout the apartment, we crafted and installed bespoke joinery to uphold our exceptional refurbishment standards. Additionally, we incorporated two new fireplaces complete with steel chimney linings. Finishing off this renovation, we adorned the walls with rare Italian marble, adding a touch of luxury.
Unexpected situations, like a water leak in an apartment, can happen to anyone. We were honoured and deeply satisfied to help in one such case, ensuring our clients’ safety and comfort.
Difficulties can arise at any time. Beyond the main staircase issues, the client’s priority was to keep noise to the lowest possible levels. We delivered on that, along with a high-end finish for this complex refurbishment.
