Executive Lounge refurbishment in the Hilton London Paddington

Hilton London Paddington - Facade of the building

The Hilton Paddington is a four-star luxury hotel conveniently located just metres away from the London Paddington train station. We carried out an interior fit-out and conversion of their existing unused offices into a luxurious new Executive Lounge.

The building was designed in the 19th century and is directly connected to the London Paddington railway terminus, which was originally managed by Great Western Railway since 1838.

The neighbourhood is a relatively busy one, with four underground lines, Hyde Park, and Little Venice all nearby, which are great areas to explore. However, with 35 million passengers visiting the station every year, it was quite challenging to organise a renovation here.

Our goal was to maintain the full operation of the station and hotel without any delays, discomfort, mess or extensive noise during the refurbishment.

Due to the highly sensitive area of a fully working station and a hotel with multiple guests, we needed to maintain tight control of goods in and out to minimise risks to health, safety and security.

Any particularly disruptive or noisy works required additional permits through station management.

The interiors, after demolition, were rebuilt from the original concrete slab up. New partition layouts formed a brand new reception and two formal conference rooms, which were upholstered with leather-stitched wallcoverings.

Our plan included construction and internal installation of coffered style ceilings and cornicing, electrical and plumbing works, new wooden flooring, and redecoration to culminate the entire project.

An open plan sitting area was divided into sections with high-quality pieces of full height joinery. VIP Guests can now enjoy a breakfast and snack bar that was bespoke manufactured to size specifically for this project.

Internet browsing desk stations, new bathrooms and toilets, a shower room and a kitchen area were all provided with a keen eye for details.

The second stage of works included a high standard redecoration of the restaurant and main public areas, including the reception, which was mainly carried out during night shifts to minimise disruption.

This renovation was very demanding and complex, yet significantly fulfilling for us.

It created new challenges and approaches to project planning, especially managing deliveries and work in areas that were highly sensitive and high risk, due to certain factors that have to remain confidential.

A word from our Clients:

Their approach to the works at all levels has been both helpful and highly professional by their craftsmen, tradesmen and management working with our own team to provide a finish to the highest of standards, very often within extremely tight constraints on both the programme and finances.

GBG Building Services Ltd has been employed by us to carry out general contracting and specialist subcontractor services on a number of projects, over the past four years. These have included The Paddington London Hilton, The Millennium Mayfair Hotel Grosvenor Square, and the Royal Automobile Club Piccadilly, which have ranged in value from £50k – £1.4m.

I believe the company has grown in stature over the years we have been working together and is quickly becoming a name within the industry that companies like ourselves can respect and rely on to carry out larger and even more prestigious projects in the future.
